About

It's a blog where I can post about whatever the hell I want. This usually consists of Beer, Movie, and Video Game reviews with a hint of Politics and a splash of Alton Brown.

Recent

I just got back from a business trip to New Hampshire where I was being trained on a product that I most likely will not be touching for the next 6 months. The best part: I am not going to pay a dime for the whole excursion.

Artists I Respect: Part I|

Anyone that listens to music in any capacity has his or her own preference of genre. Mine is Rock/Metal/Alt-Rock or anything that has quality guitar playing. It just resonates with me.

Furthermore, most people who listen to music occasionally encounter true artists who are not in your chosen genre preference that nevertheless you respect because of undeniable talent and passion. I had just such an encounter last night.

Her name is Melanie Fiona. She is an R&B singer. Think Mary J. Blige without the unbearable depression.

She was on last night during the horrifically bad Last Call with Carson Daily. The show premiered two whole songs (plus an interview) by Melanie Fiona which were performed live (the true test of a singer).

First song is "Give It To Me Right".
A "No Scrubs" style indictment of weak men.

Second is "Ay Yo".
A very upbeat "Lose Yourself" empowering song saying get up and seize the day.

The interview (which was played in between the two songs).

Undeniably, this girl can sing her ass off.

I may just buy her album when it comes out in May, titled Bridges, if for no other reason than to support real artists.
